Is the hype over since the mid-year sales have just ended? No way! The marketplace never sleeps. The e-commerce industry in Malaysia isn’t showing any signs of slowing down and the number of online shoppers is still growing at a fast pace.
Hence, it is no surprise to see various e-commerce events being held each year and how merchants would not lose the opportunity to be a part of them. It is during these times where many would be looking out for big sales deals and it would be a huge loss if merchants miss out on these big sales online. Lazada and Shopee are among some of the shopping platforms which are strongly known in Malaysia and are actively involved in these events.
So, what other exciting events can e-commerce folks look forward to for the next half of this year?
Merdeka Sales
Hari Merdeka falls on the 31st of August, which is the day Malaysians celebrate the historic event of gaining independence from the British rule. What better way to commemorate the celebration than offering promotional deals to shoppers?
Double Digit Events
8.8, 9.9 and 10.10
These events are deemed to be smaller scale events compared to 11.11 and 12.12. They were initially held to see if similar success could be recreated. The results? These events enjoy good sales but not significant. However, since there’s an opportunity to reel in more sales, why not have more of them, right?
11.11
The 11th of November is unofficially celebrated as Single’s Day in China and the 11.11 sales was first launched with the concept of providing discounted deals to single customers. It has since spread worldwide and grown to be a massive sales event.
12.12
12.12 or the 12th of December is another significant day for online shopping. It’s known to be the time when customers flock to shop for Christmas or Year End Deals! Lazada’s best selling items in year 2018 were reportedly baby products, electronics and home appliances as well as apparel and fashion products.
#MYCYBERSALE2019
#MyCyberSale2019 is Malaysia’s very own largest online sale which will be held from 27th September until 3rd October 2019. This is an initiative organized by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), with the support of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to expand the e-commerce industry in Malaysia.
If you are a merchant looking to join this event, here’s good news! The registration is free and you can easily participate by signing up at their site.
E-commerce business can be competitive. Thus, knowing the right sales period and where to sell to customers will help your business tremendously. You may also want to check on the deals you’re offering to customers during these events. An attractive deal will likely generate more sales.
